It has been quite some time since this has been updated and I feel absolutely horrible about the lack of communication.
Not a whole lot has changed since but we are definitely taking better shape going into the holidays and new year. We want to thank everyone in being so patient with us in getting things situated (school, work, life, etc.).
The giant has been asleep since 2010 and has been pretty dormant since but as any active or inactive musician will tell you, the creativity never stops there. A few new and fresh ideas have been developing and testing our more-matured approach.
We are not confirming nor denying any news but we will cross that bridge when we get there.
We have been actively communicating with people on Facebook and Reverbnation so please feel free to shoot us any messages there. We love the attention. Really, we do.
Last but not least. Check out Jose's recent work as an actor in the band Burning Eve's music video for their single "Embrace" here. Filmed, produced, and directed by Mashbat Bros. Films. (Note: he's the Warden).
Take care and support local music!

I am well aware that it has been several months since the last update and I do apologize for that. It has been a busy time for us in sorting out details but with that I bring good news:
The Evening Funeral would like to welcome Mike Haracz and Elizabeth Reyes (call her Liz or Betty) to the family.
With their talents and experiences, the band will go to lengths it has never seen before. 2012 is looking like the most promising year in the band's history and have officially began the writing process once again.
We're all a giant metal community and we all love our fellow brothers and sisters, so please show In His Honor and all other metal bands the love and support that they all rightfully deserve.
We will continue to keep everyone posted on our events and will look into recording very shortly!
As always, take care!

...to Jose on the successful completion of his very first-ever film debut "Closer"!
He has worked hard on learning a new trade in the entertainment business at The Second City and it has finally worked for him perfectly.
Please check out the teaser for the short film "Closer" and don't forget to "like" the page on Youtube!
CLOSER (Crime Drama/Neo-Noir) – After serving a 7 year felony drug conviction Ignacio Jimenez sets out to find his daughter and atone for the 7 years that were stolen from her. Two rival factions from his gangster past attempt to lure Ignacio back into the criminal life as he struggles to find a way back into his daughter's life.

It has finally happened. After many years of struggle and hard work, the little successful runs here and there, and the tons of money dished out, The Evening Funeral has signed with indie label GoDIY Records out of Los Angeles!
We want to take a brief moment to thank everyone who helped us achieve this huge step forward into our lives:
Kat @ Elemental Art Jewelry for her fine hand-crafted chainmaille guitar straps and wallet chains! Check out the rest of her work, it'll blow you away!
My extended family @ Knucklehead Strings for providing us with the absolute best strings we have ever used. No other strings have ever offered the custom varieties that Knucklehead does. I recommend the ShortBus strings for those who like thicker gauges and deeper tone!
Juan Franco @ Juan Franco Art for his amazing talents in providing us the artwork we desired! His works with The Black Dahlia Murder, As Blood Runs Black, and Born of Osiris speak for itself. We'll post his work as soon as everything is finalized!
Pete Grossmann @ Bricktop Recording for his dedication to helping musicians and bands sound their absolute best with his knowledge in the industry. I recorded my first demo ever with him in 2002 and still continue to work with him. If you're in the Chicago area, you will not find a better studio.
Jam One @ Jam 1 Photo for his dynamics in the visual medial industry. His works also speak for themselves as he provided many shots for Tech 9ine, Typical Cats, and many others! Did I mention he was my cousin, too?
Last but not least, all our friends, old and new, who have supported us through the many years of music that we have gratefully embraced and had the honor of sharing with each and every one of you.
We're going to begin working on finalizing our materials soon!

A special congrats to Jose for his "adoption" into the Knucklehead family. He is an avid user of the strings and will surely make the most of them.
Thank you, Knucklehead Strings, for making Jose an extremely happy person. His Knucklehead Strings of choice are:
They sell both in 6 and 7 string for around $6 with shipping. Definitely worth it!
